What is the importance of sea shells especially clams?
You are actually talking about Mollusks( clams, etc)
Mollusks are actually the vacuum cleaners of the ocean !

Bivalves are strictly Clams and Quahogs, they actually filter many dangerous chemicals that leak or run off or spill into the ocean.
Yes, they are dumb creatures with no brains but more importantly they suck and blow.. litterally :)
Reply:If you mean the mollusks that live in them, they are an essential part of the food chain in the ocean. If you mean the empty shells, short of the crustacean that need to up grade to new homes as they grow, virtually none.
