What can be done with empty shotgun shells?

Is there a market for them?

What can be done with empty shotgun shells?
Only some of the shells, like Winchester are in demand. They reload better than most brands. You can sometimes trade them in at gunshops etc. Place an add in a local free newspaper too. If you have a local gun club or shooting range, you can put up a flier there.

For a few shells, I take a cotton string and hang down into the shell from a piece of wire laid across the top of the shell. Then pour parafin into the shell and fill it almost to the top. once dry, remove the wire and place a couple of the shells in your emergency pack. Use it to light a fire no matter if the wood is wet or not. Just sit it under the kindling, light the string, and I guarantee it will start a good hot fire.
Reply:If they are once fired, low brass, you will probably be able to sell them to a re-loader. Especially if they are low brass and popular gauges.

If you have several hundred, I'd take them to a gun shop that also has a range and reload ammo. They may take them off your hands for a few bucks or maybe cash them in for more ammo.
Reply:RELOADED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:If you have a lot of the, a few hundred or more, you can sell them, or given them away to people who reload them.
Reply:There may be a market for them if you know someone who reloads them. You can also check at a sporting goods store that sells ammo to see if they sell once fired shot shells. they may buy them from you. If there is a gun range in your area, they may buy them or tell you who does.
Reply:reload them or sell them to someone who does reload them. or you could use them for crafts or something like that
Reply:If you have a lot of them, you can sell them to a recycling center depending on the type of metal they are, brass goes for 1.35/pound here in MO.
Reply:e-bay stinks and they are anti-gun. Go to gunbroker.com to sell your empties.
Reply:I'll second reload, but with price of lead these days it's expensive

You can always use them as targets. Just remember to pick them up when done.

Winchester AA and Remington STS hulls had a market at one time, being they are the most reloadable. Don't know if the demand is still there. I do have three guys willing to take every Winchester AA .410 hull I get.
Reply:reload them or sell them im sure someone will buy.
Reply:The usual use is to reload them. If you don't want to reload yourself, you can generally find someone who will want your spent brass through a local shooting or skeet club. Look in the Yellow Pages, or search Google for gun clubs in your area.
Reply:try ebay
Reply:It depends on the brand and model. Winchester AA once fired hulls still have quite a market for reloading. I reload 20 and 12 gauge shells.

Cabela's sells 200 once fired AA 12 ga. hulls for $20.00.

I buy them locally at gun shows for $4.00 per 100.
Reply:if you are not into packing you own load, then the brass can be taken to a recycle center. i think the plastic can as well, but i am not sure. check with a local gun dealer or gun club, they may have resources that are local to your area
Reply:make a necklace
Reply:Actually, there is a USE for them; I don't know about a market. They can be reloaded and reused. Many gun enthusiasts use reloaders. If you have many, you might try selling them at a field shooting range. I don't know though...like I said, most of those guys pick up and reload the shells they shoot.
Reply:I have a burn barrel out back.... I burn the used shells so I can get the brass...... At over a dollar a pound scrap value it can add up if you shoot a lot! -- When I leave the gun range I happily pick up other folks brass shotshells and old cartridge casings!
Reply:they can be reloaded, to be reused again

or you can collect them, a dozen of each length and caliber you got.

or you could always strip the metal from the plastic/paper and sell the used brass to make some money.
Reply:If you have enough of them I would contact someone who makes "shotgun shell light" strings for bars and rv's. They use them to make hanging lights and are always in need of them.
Reply:Go to gun shows. There is usually several booths that sell shotgun shells. Maybe they would buy them.

If you have a lot and shoot a lot buy a reloader and reload them! In the long run you will save money!
