I am travelling to the Dominican Republic and I want to bring home a conch shell. I have heard that they are illegal to bring out of the country. Not sure if this applies to all countries or just some. I live in Canada. Anyone know for sure?

they're totally legal, I've lived in the Dominican Republic 3 years and have had people come to visit, many brought home conch shells and none have had a problem.
Reply:I'm not sure about Canada as I live in the US, but I brought a conch shell home from the Cayman Islands about 8 years ago and that was fine. You could always ask someone in customs upon arrival before say finding/purchasing one only to not be able to bring it back.
