Placement of electrons in the shells?

In a carbon atom, for example, where should the electrons be placed in each shell? I need to know this for a science model I'm making.

Thanks in advance!

Placement of electrons in the shells?
Carbon has six electrons. Two fill the first shell (nearest the nucleus), and the second shell has 4 of the 8 it can hold. It is having the four vacancies that makes carbon able to combine in so many different ways.
Reply:refer to your zygotes...lol.
Reply:The first shell holds 2 electrons

Second holds 8

Third holds 18

Fourth Holds 32

Fifth Hold 32

6th Holds 18

7th Holds 8
Reply:Carbon is atomic number 6 which makes it have 6 protons and 6 electrons. the first electron shell in any element can only hold 2 electrons the next holds 8 and the rest also 8 until you get to transtional metals those are weird they hold different elctrons depending on the element
