How is it Cashews are never in the shells?

They are the seeds that adhere to the bottom of the cahew apple that grows on the cashew tree. The shell contains a caustic resin and is used in industry for varnishes and pesticides. The shells have to be carefully removed. I do not care, I love cahews.

They are always removed. The average human doesnt have the ability to crack the cashews without using nuclear weapons.
Reply:Cashews are mango seeds. Some people refer to the mangoes as cashew apple. They have two kinds of shells - if you try to shell it, you will get blisters - there's a toxic liquid between the shells. There is some industrial process done to remove the first shell, then you can crack the second one.

My granny knows some homemade ways of removing both of them :)
Reply:I think(not quite sure) that the husks of cashews is toxic(like poison oak). I seem to remember something about some edible nut from South America
Reply:They don't have shells. They grow underneath the fruit, they are an appendage of the fruit. If you eat raw cashews you will die, they are poisonous until roasted, they even burn your mouth.
