guy using a giga-counter (?) actually recieved a pre-programmed audible warning to leave the area immediately. that was while examining a destroyed tank on which children were playing. many birth defects / still births in the same area and around the country.

No-one wants innocent people to die, but lets face it a damn sight more were dissapearing off the face of the planet into mass graves. or left to die in prisons without being charged. Reply:Yes, depleted uranium is used to make shells heavier so they can penetrate armour - unfortunately they are also radioactive - see all the stuff from the first Gulf War on the Internet.

BTW uranium dust is poisonous (as it is a heavy metal) even if it isn't radioactive.

Reply:First, it is *depleted* uranium and not radioactive. It is used in saboted armor-piercing tank rounds and as shells in aircraft Gatling-cannons (30mm, I believe).



The widespread claim is that these rounds vaporize the heavy metal when they pierce armor, and this creates a deadly and toxic cloud that kills people.



What's less widespread is any significant level of evidence or proof to support this claim.
