Is there a difference between eggs with white shells and brown shells?

White eggs come from chickens descended from what are classified as the "Mediterranean breeds" of chickens. This group of breeds, which includes the leghorns, are amongst the best and most efficient layers of eggs, hence, most commercial egg farms use these breeds, giving rise to a greater number of white eggs in the stores. Most brown eggs come either from the group of breeds that are called "dual purpose" or from the group of breeds that are considered the "heavy breeds". These breeds of chickens are not as commonly used in commercial egg farms, because they are not as efficient layers, and generally have a lower conversion of feed to egg ratio. However both white egg layers and brown egg layers can produce high quality eggs if given plenty of good quality food, exercise, space, clean water, air, sunshine and shelter. And conversely, both brown egg layers and white egg layers will lay low quality eggs if they are cramped, dirty, are fed low quality food, live in low light situations with out clean water and so forth.

White eggs come from white chickens and brown eggs come from brown chickens.
Reply:"The color difference is due to the specific breed of hen, according to the Egg Nutrition Center. Hens with white feathers and white earlobes will lay white eggs, whereas hens with red feathers and matching-colored earlobes give us brown eggs."

The color of the eggshell has nothing to do with the taste of the egg.
Reply:only in price ..
Reply:no they just look different but healthier eggs do tend to be brown but the colour does not make a difference
Reply:not really, its just the type of bird that laid the egg,

i tend to like the brown ones better
Reply:The color is the only difference between them. If you can get them fresh the better.
Reply:The difference between brown eggs and white eggs is purely cosmetic; it's just a matter of a baby taking after its mom.
Reply:has nothing to do with healthy or organic. has to do with what breed of chicken they came from. some white chickens lay brown eggs, some brown chickens lat white eggs. Some, Aracaunas, lay greenish, or bluish eggs.
Reply:the only real differsnce is that the majority of the breeds of chickens lay white eggs and some breeds lay brown eggs but our good old marketing system says that brown eggs should cost more because they are better for you but in reality they are no different except for the color of the shell egg quality is due to how a chicken is raised and fed not the color of the eggs but marketing has led people to believe they are different
Reply:Just the color and the denomination of the egg.
Reply:Rather one is organic and the other is not. Or one is from a brown chicken.
