How do nut manufacturers take the nuts out of their shells?

...surely they don't employ people to crack each individual nut??(and yes, I know how Willy Wonka got round that one)...

How do nut manufacturers take the nuts out of their shells?
They use machines that put two rubber rollers in motion and then drop the nuts between them to crack the shells. After that they use a blast of air to separate the shells from the nutmeat.

Reply:They are graded by size washed cracked open on a conveyor belt with rollers and mechanically sieved for the same size nut the rest is by vision and grading for other processes and products.
