Can i use a pneumatic grinder or pneumatic polisher under water to remove sea shells attach to my boat?
yes you can the air pressure will keep the water out of the tools. I would however strongly recommend against this Idea if you grind too deeply or find a weak spot in the hull you will then have to deal with the flooding in your boat or worse salvaging ouch!!!. Also after you use the tools be sure to wash them out with clean fresh water and then lube any pistons or bearings to prevent corrosion or seizing.
Reply:Most of the divers I have seen just use scrapers and pads. One guy used a toilet plunger to help hold himself to the boat, which I thought was ingenious. Using anything other than hand tools under salt water is just asking for problems. Spend the money and hire someone who knows what they are doing.
Reply:No air tools have issues under water%26gt; Get a stainless 8" wide scraper and a wet suit and hood or you will be cut to shreads%26gt;Good air supply%26gt;
Reply:The air bubbles would be so bad you wouldn't be able to see what you were doing and it's not worth the risk of putting a hole in the boat. Scraper and gloves. Those shells are razor sharp.
Reply:yeah i guess you can,,,you see divers doing it all the time.
Reply:Yes, you can do it. Would I do it, no.
Reply:Is there paint on the boat? A scraper amd some 3m pads will do most of it. Not sure you want your tools in salt water.
