Are the shells okay in his tank or do i need to remove them?

your Betta should be in a tank 5 gallons minimum with a pump and heater gold fish bowls are cruel the shells will be fine but get him a tank and cycle it first
Reply:It's ok if they are specifically for aquariums. If you got them at the beach or else where you should take them out. You should put in a silk plant or two. Or you could even get a tank for him! Then you'd have more room for decorations so it wouldn't be as dull.
Reply:you should only get shells that are safe for aquariums... but if you want them in there make sure you boil them in hot water first.

I agree that the betta needs a 5 gallon tank with a sponge filter AND a heater. (betta's are tropical fish and need 78-82 degree temp water)

Get him SILK (not plastic - they will cut his fins) plants. Get atleast one with big leafs as he will rest on them, its cute to watch.

Any docorations make sure they have NO sharp edges as that will also cut the betta's fins (same with sharp edges on the shells) file any sharp edges down with sandpaper or nail file.

ANYTHING you put in with him needs to be rinsed really well under hot water to make sure all dust and stuff is off of it.

You cant really put much in a bowl... you can get a 5 gallon tank for about $10 bucks... you really should upgrade.
Reply:hey well i also have fish and that happens to me tooo clean the bowl only every WEEk ok but do you know how it gets dirty its from the fish food left over makes the bowl dirty.
Reply:put some decorative rainbow rocks don't put to much beta's get mad
