Creative ideas for sea shells?

Over the past couple of years we have collected a number of shells from the beach. Now we have 4-5 baskets full of all kinds of shells. Does anyone have any recommendations for something creative we might be able to make out of all these shells?

Creative ideas for sea shells?
Placing them in a clear vase with some beach sand always looks amazing. You can even buy colored sand at some craft stores.

Another fun thing is to put them into one of those Zen Gardens with a mini rake.

Sometimes I place them in the dirt around my house plants. However if you really have a ton and want to keep them all, perhaps get a clear glass table ( either for the patio or the house) tack a secondary wooden shelf with sides under neath it and fill it with all the shells and maybe some sand. Then seal it all up with some clear caulking. What a beautiful table you would have. A great conversation piece!
Reply:make a giant shell from the shells or you could make a model of something like a castle.

in barcelona that massive church is decorated in shells so you could do somthing like that?
Reply:I used to know a couple who would use oyster shells as models for their paintings. And some of them were beautiful!

You could possibly use them as ash trays, or you could stand them up a bit and paint pictures inside them. If they're small enough, you might use them for jewelry. I can see how you can even use them as wind chimes or something similar.

Have fun!
Reply:yes i have 2 ideas that you might like, Me and my sister lived at the beach, and we collected so many sea shells over 100 of them, Soo here is what we did, number 1 idea, Try to find a great big piece of driftwood on the beach, if you cant then Get a Big Board of wood, You will need that and cement glue Buy little sand paper and about 10 little umbrellas that people used in party drinks, Get maybe like 10 liitle china animals liittle nicknakes to go to shadow boxes, Now lay down your board or drift wood, and glue all the shellscarefully all around, and place the sand paper all around, Glue Each animal backs to the sandpaper, oh glue the sandpaper to, to make theanimals look like they are at the beach for the day, and place the umbrells in there hand use a little glue there, Then when the glue is dried then shellac the shells, maybe make a liittle sign paint that call it Bear Beach, We collected Bears , now idea number 2, make a sea shell collage out of the glue and a big wooded board, warning be careful of the Glue, dont use too much of it and dont make a mess because cent glue is basically cement, good luck
Reply:A few years back, we took some pictures of my daughter (2 years old at the time) at the beach. We took some plain wooden picture frames and hot glued small shells all over the frame, covering it completely.
Reply:glue them decoratively around a mirror or picture frame. Fun!! Or, store them in a clear glass vase. Make several in a grouping.
Reply:You could place them in the bottom of a shadow box picture frame with pictures of your family at the beach.. pr purchase a shadow box table (basically a table that has a recess you can place photos and items in.. such as seashells.. that then is topped with glass so you can see the items inside it!)

You could also fill some hurricane vases with them and put some candles inside. When you light the candles the light makes the shells glow because they are semi transparent.
Reply:you could glue them on a picture frame, or on the front of a card to decorate it, or put them around ur house or beach house for decoration
