Is it ok to eat the shells of salted peanuts?

i have heard some things about eating the entire shell..good..bad..or otherwise?..or does it matter?

Is it ok to eat the shells of salted peanuts?
I know a lot of people that do it, unless you have an intestinal problem like chron's disease or diverticulitis it wont do more than act as a bulk fiber laxative at worst.
Reply:Lots of fibre, but I don't think it'll hurt you.
Reply:hmm.. i would just eat the peanuts without the shells.

i wouldn't know if there's a 'new' method of eating peanuts with

the shells on.

but i prefer eating them using the tried and tested method, which

is WITHOUT the shells. heh. :)
Reply:I've been eating peanuts with the shells for years. They've never made me sick. Personally, I think 'salted' peanuts are quite a bit tastier with the shell, as the salt is on the outside of the shell, and not on the peanuts themselves. Despite what some of the others are saying, the shell really has no nutritional value and most of the fiber in the shell is insoluble, which means that it isn't going to have a laxative effect (I also happen to know this from personal experience! lol). So, if you do decide to eat the shells, just do it as a personal preference. You're not going to be an more or less healthy by it.
Reply:i wouldnt recomend it......
Reply:Well, if you're game for it,then go for, high nutritional value in them, however, the "end" result won't be much fun.
Reply:Yes but why would you want to?
Reply:It wont hurt you. Chew them well though.
Reply:As long as they haven't been sucked on by someone else already.
Reply:it isn't going to hurt you.. very high bulk and fiber in those shells.. but they're real hard and not quite enjoyable as the peanut itself.

but you won't die from it.. just get real tired of chewing on them.
