What "stains" can I use to test the cleaning abilities of homemade toothpaste on shells?

Well, we're doing this project at school. And my group made toothpaste so we'll have to test how well it works. We decided to test it on shells because none of us wanted to use the toothpaste. :)) So, what "stains" can we use on the shells so we can test our toothpaste? HELP PLEASE. :o

[needed ASAP.]

thanks! :]

Reply:coffee and tea are the big ones. If you can get those off, you've really done a good job.
Reply:Grape juice, coffee, tea, spaghetti sauce. These are common things your teeth would be exposed to.
