Is it bad to eat sunflower seed shells?

even if u chew em up real good?

Is it bad to eat sunflower seed shells?
No...they are just fiber!
Reply:You can, it won't kill you and they aren't harmful. But I don't think it'd be too pleasant if you eat too many of them. There's a good reason why parrots hull the shells off the seeds before eating them. Eating large amounts will give you indigestion and there are better ways to get your fiber.
Reply:you mean like bagged and salted sunflower seeds? Yea, i love eating the whole entire thing sometimes, until i got braces! :( but if you dont chew the up really good then it can scatch something inside of you! ouch!
Reply:About the same as chewing watermellon seeds...can cause divorticulitis...very painful bowl infection and possible obstruction. Not recommended.
Reply:If you chew them well, they're perfectly safe. Don't eat too many, though- they're packed with fiber and you don't want to cause a stomach meltdown (if you know what I mean).
Reply:Parrots don't eat the shell, why would you? Then again, they don't have a digestive tract like ours.

Haha, the human digestive system is strong. I doub't anything bad could possibly happen.
Reply:Yes - they are splintery %26amp; could scratch your bowel. Also are indigestible %26amp; could cause a blockage. Learn to chew %26amp; spit like the ball players!!! LOL
