Use a very small drill bit and we it with a little pam coking spray first.

How do you make a seashell necklace without breaking the shells?
I have two methods

I used this when I was younger and made shell jewery--I had a large darning needlde that I,d tap through with a rubber (small) mallet



Now I own a Dremil Tool- It has so many different bit ends that you can drill a whole %26amp; cut a shell.

Its inexpencive and can be bought at Wallmart ,Sears,and other places.
Reply:If you have a drill just go buy a bit thats made for drilling glass, you could get one at any home improvement store like home depot, lowes, ace hardware, or any craft store should carry them, you might even want to try wal-mart. Good luck.
Reply:you need to get a GLASS Drill bit it is the best way to prevent breaking...i also would recommend putting duct tape on both sides as a buffer(this will help it not to crack)...go SLOW!!...practice on a few B4 u use your favorite!....ANY hardware store should carry this bit...just to let you know though...they are one of the more pricey bits....but if you intend on using it a lot worth the investment!
Reply:i've made a few seashell necklaces/bracelets/belts. i look for the shells on the beach that already have small holes. (many of them do) the thread or string will go right through it. no need for drilling/breaking shells.
Reply:Go to the craft store and buy the ones with the holes already in them:))))
Reply:Screw a tiny screw into the shell and then take it out so that you have a hole. If you use a nail, it won't work, it would break the shell. You have to gently screw a hole into it by turning the screw into the shell with your finger. It will make for less pressure on the little shell.
