Are there sea-shells wind up clock-wise and anti clock-wise ? If so what determines which way it's build ?

I'd like to know if sea shells(or any beings that builds its on shell) are all wind up in the same direction,

also I'd like to learn, if possible of course, what causes the living being to make its on shell in one direction or the other

No. Not all shells wind the same way i.e. have the same chirality. It depends on the species and genetics. There is an interesting case of Japanese snails (which have similar shells), where a single point mutation can cause the direction in which the shells wind to change. This is even more amazing as the opposite chirality makes it hard for the snails to mate and therefor a single point mutation in one individual should not lead to a bifurcation in the species.... and yet, it does.

Have fun!
Reply:depends which way the seashell's inhabitant likes to unwind.
