How do I boil shrimp to ensure that the shells come off easily?

After they are finished boiling, quickly dip them in some ice water. The cool water causes the shells to harden quickly which makes them easier to remove.

Before you "boil" your shrimp, take the shells off first, then slit them down the center, %26amp; take out the vein, %26amp; please steam them if at all possible, if you don't have a steamer, boil them for just 2 minutes, if you boil them too long, you will bite into something like an eraser.
Reply:I being a ccook in a previous life would advise to shell and de vein the shrip before boiling. For those that do not know, the vein is the gut. It can be seen once the belly is split open. Not removing the gut taints the flavor of this tasty morsel.
Reply:boil em.........? why don't y

ou try steaming them instead?
Reply:add abit of saltto the water.
Reply:Ask Forrest Gump.
Reply:Put them in a pan, put about 1 inch water in bottom put some seasoning in and put a lid on them and let them steam for awhile, continue to check on them.
Reply:REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU DO YOU WILL STILL HAVE TO REMOVE THEM YOURSELF. BOILING OR STEAMING THEY WILL NOT COME OF BY THERE SELVES.
