Can anyone taste the difference between various brand name pasta shells? If so, which one's are the best?

I disagree with anyone who says they all taste the same! Of course, the fresh made is best, but there is a difference between dried boxed pasta!!! The ones imported from Italy are by far tastier. I like Di Cecco, and Buitoni. If you can't find them, Barilla is Okay.

I like Ronzoni and Barrillo because the store brands taste like cardboard!
Reply:Pasta is pasta - flour water sometimes egg - you probably would not be able to tell the difference between brand names. On the other hand you probably could notice a difference between store bought and home made.

So far Barilla is on the top of my list for store bought - I try to make my own as often as possible.
Reply:Nope I taste no difference it's only the price that's all
Reply:BARILLA BEST CHOICE BAR NONE
Reply:Not really. I say it is how long you cook it!
Reply:American Beauty is the best. Creamettes second.
Reply:the only diff. is in the really cheap ones they have a bland taste.
Reply:Barilla is the best dried pasta I've used.
Reply:i really like the fresh pasta, not the dried...most sotores have it in the refrigerated section, and it just seems to have a better consistancy and density.
