How do i find the number of electrons in sub shells such as : 5p or 5d?

well, if you know how many electrons an atom has (which you can find in a periodic table), you just have to arrange them in sub shells.. the electrons occupy the sub shells with the least amount of energy first (the order is like this: 1s, 2s 2p 3s 3p 4s 3d 4p 5s 4d 5p 6s 4f 5d 6 p 7s 5f 6d 7p...)
