What is the name of a shellfood/fish that is made from two long shells?

I've seen them on UK beaches. They're not clams nor cockles btw. The shell is a long rectangular shape.

it sounds like a razor clam, otherwise known as a jacknife clam.
Reply:They are known as razor fish (quite delicious actually) some times added to seafood paellas in menorca.
Reply:razor clams if these are what youre on about..http://www.flickr.com/photos/83096974@N0...
Reply:You must mean razor clam.

It can also be known as:

* Ensis directus, Atlantic jackknife clam

* Siliqua patula, Pacific razor clam

It's long and rectangular in shape and has two sides to the shell which are hinged together by one of the long sides. The meat looks like a big white tongue poking out of the end.

Have seen them for sale in the Fish/seafood section of large chinese supermarkets like Wing Yip - Cricklewood.
